The Hikvision WiFi Doorbell can be used in 2 way-
a) As a standalone device with push notification and viewing through the Hik-connect app . The door bell record events if a micro SD card is installed. You can also set the Hikvision doorbell to record on motion , ie if someone comes near the unit.

b)  As an additional feature can also be added to your Hikvision recorder (Turbo HD DVR or NVR). This quick overview will serve as a guide to help you set up the Hikvision doorbell.

First of all we need the WIFI Doorbell itself and a 12VDC 1A power supply. In this case the power supply we use has a male DC plug on it so we also need a female DC connector to make the connection. Setup the Hikvision doorbell on a table near your router before you start fixing it near your front door.

Inside the box with the WIFI Doorbell packaging box you will find some spare screws and these small power cables which fasten to the + and - power connections on the rear of the doorbell unit. Red cable for (+), black cable for (-). Ensure you connect the cables the right way otherwise you will damage the unit.

After 30 seconds or so the doorbell button should start to flash red & blue. The doorbell should also announce that it is now ready to connect to your wi-fi. You can now use the hik-connect app on your smartphone to complete the set-up.

Open hik-connect and log into your hik-connect account (or create an account if you are a new user).

Once logged in, go to add new device, and choose scan QR code. The QR code is under the plastic fascia cover of the doorbell. On initial installation the app should tell you that the Doorbell is offline and you must connect it to a network. Make sure your phone is connected to the wi-fi network that you wish to have your doorbell connect to. The Hik-connect app will now generate a QR code which you can use to send the wi-fi details to the Hikvision doorbell.

Move the QR code in front of the Doorbells camera (approx 15cm away) and after a few seconds the doorbell should make a beep sound. On the app click the "I have scanned" button and after a few seconds you should receive a message asking you to activate the device by creating a password for it. This is now the password should you wish to web browse to it or add it to a recorder.

Once activated, the doorbell should appear amongst your other devices that are registered to your account. You can now view the camera, or recieve incoming notifications from the doorbell.

If you open SADP on your laptop you should be able to see the Doorbell in the Device list on your local network, confirming the details that you'll need to add the doorbell to your recorder.

You should be able to go to your recorder's IP camera management screen and scan to find the doorbell. Select the camera and add it either via one-touch adding or by manually adding (you will need to use the IP address, username and password of the doorbell).

By doing this you can record the footage from your Hikvision Doorbell to your Hikvision recorder.

Affordable quality and competitively priced makes Hikvision IP the only choice for all new installs. Plug and play and is sold rebranded or rebadged versions such as HiKcom, Alien Mega Hero, DSD, Odyssey, LTS , KT&C to name a few. The systems are also available in TVI ( HD over coaxial or cat5e using video bulans) or as IP which is also HD over CAT5e with the added advantage of being able to carry power as well as data on one cable. Nearly all units sold by us have the power supply built into the recorder called PoE.

Cost Saving
With just one CAT5e cable to run between NVR and cameras makes Hikvision IP systems fast and neat to install. No need for the separate power supply or bulky coaxial cables.
For upgrades to High Definition ( HD), existing cables are likely to be coaxial cable ( like TV aerial cable ). In this situation where re-cabling to CAT5e would be costly, you can use a hybrid recorder. This will allow you to use HD TVI cameras on the coaxial cable and new ones can be wired in CAT5e.
The Hikvision IP cameras have an IP sniffer & configuration software called Hikvision SADP tools. This software is also needed to request a password reset as well as the main tool for diagnosing problems. Make sure you install this on your windows laptop! Its not availiable for MAC.

A familiar user interface to access the cameras GUI using Microsoft Internet Explorer if needed.
