Hikvision DVR ( Digital Video Recorder) are compatible with old standard resolution cameras and new high-definition cameras which use a silver bayonet connector called BNC. The CCTV cameras are normally wired using a coaxial cable but CAT5 can be used using video bulans.

If you are not sure of which camera your Hikvision DVR will take, first have a look at the back of your Hikvision DVR and see if the connectors are the same as those shown below. Make sure there are a number of these connectors labelled camera 1, camera 2 and so on. If you have this type of connector on a Hikvision DVR then it's safe to say that it will support a TVI camera.

We stock 4 in 1 camera type which means the CCTV camera can output 4 signal type as listed above and they are set to TVI by default. If you don't have a TVI DVR then you can simply switch the camera signal output to a different format using the joystick on the camera cable.
Add Hikvision IP camera to DVR
Hikvision DVRs also support additional IP cameras, 4 channel DVR can take 1 IP cameras and the 8/16 channel DVRs can take 2 IP cameras. This in addition to the analogue cameras so your 4 channel DVR will become a 5 channel DVR. Only Hikvision IP cameras or our Qtron camera will work with HIkvision DVRs and you will need to wire this using CAT5 cable as shown below. The IP camera option is ideal when you cant install a cable to the cameras as you can use WIFI cameras or a powerline plug to carry the signal.
